What is it?
Liquid War is a freeware multiplayer wargame.
Its rules are quite different from many wargames,
so it may be a little hard at first to understand how it works,
but I honestly think it is worth trying it.
The actual release is a DOS program,
but I've not had any big problems running it under Windows.
Here are some screenshots, in case you want to see
how does the game look like before downloading it:
How to get it?
Liquid War 5
is avalaible
Here.
It is a freeware game, this means you can use it and copy it
without paying anything.
I would even say that I encourourage you to distribute it
by giving it to your friends,
putting it on shareware CDs,
or proposing it to any web site which could become a mirror site.
You can also download Liquid War from my
download page
or have a look at my
links page.

The idea of the game and its basic algorithms have been invented by
Thom-Thom, a friend of mine.
I (U-Foot)
did the programming job,
and my personal computer should be the
only place in the world where the 640Kb of source code
can be found.
Please do not hesitate to contact me
if you have any question or remark about the game.

Thanks
- I would first like to thank
Thom-Thom
for having such a good idea for a game.
- Valerie helped me a lot to develop all the graphic user interface
and test the software.
- I'm still really impressed by all the work they do at GNU.
- DJGPP,
by DJ Delorie, was definitely THE compiler I needed to
create a playable version of Liquid War.
- Without
Allegro
by Shawn Hargreaves, all this would have been impossible.
I saved hours and hours (days, weeks, months, years maybe...)
using this library, which is designed for games programming.
- The textures available at
Flux
also helped me not to waste my time,
and I think they look great.
Work in progress
There is currently no network support in Liquid War 5.1,
but I conceived the game so that it should be easy to add it.
I did not include network support in the first release of Liquid War 5
for I developped the game this summer (98) on an isolated computer,
and was unable to test anything.
I'm also thinking about porting the game to Win32 using WinAlleg.
I heard that
Thom-Thom
is working (hard?) on Liquid War 6.
This version should run on UNIX machines.
But right now, I'm working on
Tetr61s,
a multiplayer Tetris clone, running under Win32, with TCP/IP support.
